One of the senior leadership teams I coach recently shared this result with me!  Excessive meetings—often spent sharing updates rather than collaborative strategic work are a common roadblock to performance and progress.

💡 When was the last time you took a step back and analysed your meeting cadence against impactful criteria to ensure how you are spending your time is maximised?

This leadership team has always shown dedication, commitment, and support for one another. They put in the time and work hard—does that always lead to spending time on the items that will have the greatest return?

This is a familiar scenario in leadership teams. Multiple meetings scheduled with a variety of stakeholders all seeking input. You reach the end of a week/month, your diary has been full, you have been incredibly busy but when you assess how your time has been spent, it starts to feel like Groundhog Day – and for many leadership teams, over 50% of their time is taken up informing v’s collaborating or making a decision.

Defining senior leadership teams’ reason for being is at the core of unlocking their true impact. When a team is clear on the impact they need to have, focuses on what is unique to them and truly matters, and works strategically towards shared goals with a systemic lens, the result is more effective meetings, sharper decision-making, and greater alignment.

Here are three questions to help shape your meetings this week:

💡What actions must we take as a collective?
💡What roles do individuals play in delivering shared outcomes?
